Root Canal

Root canal therapy, otherwise known as endodontics, can become necessary when the tooth nerve has been permanently damaged by decay, trauma, gum disease or, very occasionally, a crack in a tooth.

Damaged nerves can become infected and can cause a dental abscess.

During root canal therapy, the nerve or remnants of the nerve are painlessly removed, and a filling is placed in the nerve cavity to prevent reoccurrence of the abscess.

This treatment provides an effective alternative to extracting the tooth.
